About Loal
Loal G. Tucker is a third-generation rancher and horseman, whose family has been ranching in New Mexico for 150 years. His mothers family, Gordon, was involved in several of New Mexico’s largest ranching operations, and his maternal grandfather, Johnny Gordon, worked at Santa Fe’s famed Bishop’s Lodge in the early 1900's. During his youth, Loal G. Tucker spent summers horseback, high in the Pecos Mountains, rounding up and doctoring cattle, mending fences, and leading pack strings in the high country.
Loal is a highly respected trainer and clinician. Loal instructs clinics throughout the year in Ranch Versatility, Working Cattle, Dry Working Cattle, Horsemanship, Confidence and Trail Confidence clinics. Loal tailors his teaching style to accommodate the personalities and abilities of both horses and people. He is an accomplished speaker and showman. Along with a busy clinic schedule, he offers weekly private lessons and weekly group lessons in a format called Afternoons with Loal.
As part of Loal’s equine curriculum, he is raising and training a handful of his own AQHA horses to join the LTH program. Loal and Wendy, his wife and partner, operate a professional equine horse training facility just outside Santa Fe, NM. The 40-acre property has all the amenities needed to handle all sorts of events.
